Father Thomas Collins

Meet Father Tom

Father Thomas (Tom) Collins was ordained in Richmond, Virginia on May 13, 1972.

Most of his assignments have been in rural parishes in Keyser, West VA, Covington, VA, Clifton Forge, VA, Hot Springs, VA, Norton, VA and Richlands, VA.  His urban assignments were in South Richmond and Richmond, VA, Weirton, WVA and Norfolk, VA.

Over the years, Father Tom Collins has been active in the Cursillo movement, the Legion of Mary, the Carmelite community and pro-life ministries.  All of these ministries have been enhanced by a special interest in fostering a deepening appreciation of the ways in which profound dimensions of the saving covenantal ministry of Jesus Christ are accentuated by the unique role and participation of Mary in the mystery of salvation.

The Shrine of the Sacred Heart Church and the parish community is blessed to have Father Tom as the retired Priest in Residence.

THANK YOU FROM FATHER TOM

I would like to thank all of the parishioners at Sacred Heart, St. Joseph and the Shrine of the Sacred Heart for all your prayers, words & encouragement, ministerial support and gifts as I celebrate the gracious mercy of God, whereby I have been privileged to share in the priestly ministry of Jesus Christ for over fifty years.

And I deeply appreciate the most enjoyable celebration of this grace this past Sunday.

Over half of the years of my ministry have been in the beautiful Alleghany Highlands. And it would not have been possible without the prayers, fidelity, challenges, encouragement and support you have provided to me over the years.

May God continue to bless, guide and protect you, as He has so graciously blessed me and so many others through you and through your numerous ministries in our larger community.

In Christ, Fr. Tom
